It’s increasingly clear that Ange Postecoglou has taken Spurs and somehow – quite impressively, really – made them even more Spurs than before.
What you’ve historically been able to count on from the Spurs is an entertaining team that has some very good days and some eye-wateringly bad ones while not really being a real long-term threat to you. If you are one of the serious clubs that try. To do things the right way.
Ange Ball has delivered brilliantly this season. 3-0 win at Old Trafford The centerpiece of what was otherwise an almost cartoonishly unbelievable but undeniably real five-match winning streak that ended The most ridiculous defensive collapse can be imagined to turn a 2-0 half-time lead into a crushing 3-2 defeat at Brighton.Then a Spurs fan had the pleasure of stewing during the international break.
On their return, Spurs defeated West Ham and sadly lost to Crystal Palace who A visit to Dr Tottenham is urgently needed.. Then beat Aston Villa and lost to Ipswich because of course they did. The only really amazing thing about Spurs cruise to victory at Manchester City. The fact was that they didn’t follow that up by losing at home to Fulham, although they probably should have, then lost to Bournemouth and Then at home to Chelsea via another ridiculous and very stupid defensive collapse.
The ‘ange out’ thing Growing and definitely only going to get higher. Besides, it’s just the time of season the Spurs like to embark on a wild, whiplash change of direction, and it’s not hard to see how a desire for something a little less absurd might take hold. less funny than 6-3 defeat at home to Liverpoolmaybe.
So who are the likely contenders for the Premier League’s most toxic? According to the latest odds, this poor sod.
10) Brendan Rodgers
The odds for the job came in September but will Rodgers really leave Celtic for a second mid-table Premier League job?
6=) Jesse March
Really surprising, this. And surely Spurs fans will greet him with as much enthusiasm as a big American poo in a sock.
6=) Mauricio Pochettino
Certainly a more popular appointment, although he wouldn’t have been as popular as he would have been if he hadn’t managed Chelsea and then been seen as a bit of an amateur by Enzo Maresca. It seems it would have to be pre-Chelsea for him and pre-Ange for Spurs if that was going to happen. Which is a bit of a shame as it feels like there is a bit of unfinished business for the club and the manager.
Ironically, the best Spurs manager of the last 30 years has managed to create a situation where managing Chelsea actually hurts rather than improves their chances of going second.
6=) Lee Carsley
Not even England’s most sought-after manager.
6=) Marco Silva
It’s a pleasant surprise to see Silva so prominent in a big next-manager market, as he probably deserves for the work he’s done at Fulham. There’s always the risk for mid-table managers that consistent talent is exactly what the big clubs want but it can also make you a bit invisible. Spurs fans, we suspect, will start off as a hunch about this, but we’ve heard worse.
5) Gareth Southgate
Say what you like about yardball, but it certainly doesn’t have the silliness of angleball. A lot of nonsense will go away. Kalvin Phillips will be brought in on loan. Dejan Kulusevski will be pushed to the left for some reason. Spurs won’t be as good as they sometimes are under Postecoglou, but neither will they be as bad as they often are under Postecoglou.
As an added bonus, the issue of ‘never actually taking the final step necessary to win anything’ that undermines Southgate’s credentials for any other top job in the Premier League is not a concern here. .
3=) Karen McKenna
Never blow your chances in these types of markets t0 managing the small club has pulled down the pants of the big club in question. McKenna is a top-notch young coach and it seems inevitable that a Big Eight job is somewhere in his future. It feels like it’s not quite right at the right time, though, despite some of the club’s valuable credentials.
Beating Chelsea is the kind of thing that will get Spurs’ attention. It may actually be second only to being a Chelsea manager on the list of qualities required for a potential Spurs boss.
3=) Andoni Erola
It’s not hard to imagine it will be greeted with eyes by Spurs fans who can see that Bournemouth are five points and six places up. Premier League table And playing far better football.
2) Eddie Howe
Newcastle’s recent improvement probably overshadows that, which is a bit of a shame because up until the last few weeks it was really entirely conceivable that both Daft clubs would make plug-pulling decisions at the same time after inconsistent starts to the season. and thus jump straight into another big task where achieving your goals is virtually impossible.
1) Graham Potter
Suffice it to say that the last time he was significantly linked with Spurs he was able to turn his nose up in the knowledge that something better would happen with him. The Spurs are no better now than they really were, but Potter, one suspects, would have little sniff of the idea now. And it’s about time Spurs had another ex-Chelsea boss in charge. Ages have passed.
