Who are the top soccer goalscorers of 2024? Holland, Mbappe, Kane? The reward?

Erling Haaland scored 44 goals last year and that kept them out of the competition despite not playing any football in the final weeks of 2023.

He finished 2023 one goal ahead of Harry Kane and one ahead of Kylian Mbappe.and the trio were expected to dominate again in 2024 for Manchester City, Bayern Munich and PSG/Real Madrid.

Criteria: All club goals in all competitions for clubs in Europe’s top 10 leagues.

10) Mo Salah (Liverpool) – 29 goals
A truly ridiculous season so far has seen Liverpool top two tables and Salah in line for the Golden Boot. 2024 too in terms of support.

9) Cole Palmer (Chelsea) – 29 goals
Even without any European football stat padding, Palmer has proven to be a goalscoring force. Three Premier League hat-tricks in 2024 have included a pair of four goal holes.

8) Vinicius Jnr (Real Madrid) – 31 goals
A hat-trick helped Barcelona beat Barcelona in January’s Supercopa de España, while another helped Borussia Dortmund miss out on the Ballon d’Or in October. Which he took incredibly well.. He opened his bid for the 2025 award with another treble against Osasuna.

7) Krzysztof Petek (Basakshire) – 32 goals
It really helps if you have to play around 427 games in the conference league before the season proper starts.

6) Jonathan David (Lille) – 36 goals
There was a Coupe de France hat-trick to kick off 2024 but the league has been an avalanche of goals since then. It’s actually surprising he hasn’t been targeted more aggressively for a summer transfer. Has already scored 17 times this season as it started with Champions League qualification and then progressed to defeats of Real Madrid and Real Atlético Madrid.

5) Kylian Mbappe (PSG/Real Madrid) – 36 goals
Gearing up against a side in the sixth tier of French football is easy when you want to start the new year off right. Mbappe scored a hat-trick in a 9-0 win before adding two more goals for the third-tier side. But they failed to compete twice against Borussia Dortmund. As PSG crashed out of the Champions League semi-finals.

Started life with a Super Cup goal for Real Madrid and has now scored 14 in 24 for his Spanish club, which feels kind of disappointing. He Was really rotten against Liverpool..

4) Erling Holland (Manchester City) – 38 goals
Not bad for a standard League Two player. And any talk of him being a flat-track bully should have been silenced by the two-goal salvo v Spurs that saw Man City win the title by so much. He then started the new season with two hat-tricks in his first five games and a total of 10 goals. Which is all pretty crazy. But what followed was the most difficult period of his City career. Since that 10-goal outburst in the first month of the season, he has scored four more league goals. He still scored 19 goals in 26 games this season but Manchester City is in crisis.which isn’t really helping his looks.

3) Harry Kane (Bayern Munich) – 39 goals
He scored the most goals of any player in his first Bundesliga campaign. And in fact the most goals he has scored himself in a single campaign with 44. But he still ended the season without a trophy and that will never be funny. Has scored 20 goals in 19 games this season ‘but is he leaving Bayern behind?’

After a week in which his England place was once again in question, he scored a hat-trick against Augsburg. But then drew blanks against PSG and Borussia Dortmund. But then got injured in the final weeks of 2024.

2) Robert Lewandowski (Barcelona) – 40 goals
There’s still life left in an old dog. He’s still starting (and scoring goals) for Barcelona at the ripe old age of 35. The first hat-trick of the season came against Alves and he helped the academy kids to defeat Real Madrid. Seven Champions League goals are in the book as Barca cruise to the table stage.

1) Victor Giovris (Sports) – 52 goals
The former Coventry man scored 29 league goals as Sporting cruised to the Portuguese title. And he has coincidentally started the new season with 18 goals in his first 14 league games of 2024/25 and five in six in the Champions League. It’s actually surprising that the 2024 top scorer wasn’t the subject of a summer transfer. Now he has added a hat-trick against Manchester City. He is definitely great for Man Utd..

He drew blanks against Arsenal and then Santa Clara after Ruben Amorim was ruled out, but soon returned to form with three goals in four games.
