Despite Arsenal’s attacking struggles, Arteta has hinted that they do not need to sign a striker to win the title as he would only do so if an “exceptional” opportunity presented itself.
“I’m very happy with the players we have. When you look at the amount of goals we’ve scored, it’s enough to win the Premier League. But the reality is someone else is doing it. And that’s the reality of life so we have to do better,” Arteta said.
“It’s not enough to sign someone, that’s for sure. How many goals to sign? A lot of things have to happen. That (January) market is a lot more limited than a summer, but I don’t know.
“If there’s something unusual in the market that we can afford and we think will have a real impact on the team, we should always be open to that possibility. At this point, the focus is on what we can do. What’s passed?”
He added: “When you’re in the moment you want to keep playing. Gabriel has increased the load massively in recent weeks. We have to try to manage the players.
