WAYNE Rooney has hit back when he took a mystery woman back to his flat as he insists “it’s simply not true.”
Trolls claimed a video posted online showed him letting an unidentified woman into his Plymouth luxury yacht.
But today he hit out and explained that they were actually a couple who had given the football legend a lift home and his son was present at the time.
Posting on his Instagram stories, the angry football icon said: “I’m aware of a video circulating online.
“The video shows a man and a woman looking around my flat.
“The couple very kindly gave me a lift home and they were there at the same time as my son who was visiting.
“The footage dates from last summer, it is disturbing that at least one online newspaper has chosen to edit the footage to make it appear as though a woman entered the flat on top of her himself.
“That is simply not true.”
In the video, Wazza – wearing a gray tracksuit – unlocks a door to his luxury rented flat in Plymouth as an unidentified woman waits.
Rooney is then filmed walking past a huge flat screen TV, with the camera later panning around to show a kitchen and dining table.
A woman can be heard saying “What time does it finish?” while a man holding a blue baseball cap says “this is the hat he wears all the time”.
Another video shows the guests looking around Rooney’s bedroom and huge en-suite bathroom, with the girl saying “Wow” while the man says “Oh my f***ing god”.
Dylan Hainey, who posted the videos on X, tweeted: “He loves getting p***ed up the Barbie doesn’t he … and just getting random people back to show his flat.
“They’re not even bad, just a little (huge look) of unprofessionalism.”
The Plymouth supporter added: “I’m gutted it hasn’t worked/is working.
“I loved Rooney as a player, my football idol growing up. It was an unreal feeling when he was announced as manager.”
As well as the video, another image of Rooney sitting with two women in a pub was also posted on X, but this was taken on a night back in August.
Rooney’s job as Plymouth manager is under pressure after a string of poor results culminating in a 2-0 defeat to Oxford United yesterday, leaving them bottom of the Championship.
Part of the club’s supporters have turned against him, after initially celebrating his arrival on the south coast – and the fact that he is willing to socialize in the town.
A spokesman for the club confirmed that the flat videos were not recent as Rooney spent Saturday night with his team in a hotel near the Oxford ground preparing for the game.
A source told The Sun that I’m A Celeb star Coleen – who spent Sunday in the director’s lounge at Goodison Park, watching his boyhood team Everton FC lose 2-0 to Nottingham Forest – was “unconcerned” by the video when he saw it online.
They said: “Wayne was with his son on the night of the videos. He got a lift home and invited them in to say thanks.”
