Tuchel reveals who Bellingham can’t play with. Named PL star ‘very close’ for call-up

England head coach Thomas Tuchel has named a Premier League star who is “very close” to a call-up, while making a fresh claim about Jude Bellingham.

Three lions They return to action on Thursday night when they host Serbia at Wembley in their World Cup qualifier, while they face Albania on Sunday evening.

Nico O’Reilly, Marcus Rashford and Morgan Rodgers are among the starters against Serbia, while Bellingham and Foden are on the bench.

Tuchel is not afraid to make bold decisions with his selection, and has named an in-form Premier League star who is in line for a call-up in the coming months.

“We only have one more camp… so we’re going out of matches to try things out,” Tuchel said when asked if players were running out of time to impress him.

“But every player has a chance. There’s always a chance.”

Asked how close Brighton star Danny Welbeck was to being named in the squad, Tuchel replied: “He’s very close. Do I really need to see it in November? I think I know what he can give us.”

Tuchel has also explained why he thinks Bellingham, Foden and Harry Kane “can’t play” in the same team.

“At this point, if we keep the structure, they can’t play.”

“Right now, we play with No. 6, No. 8, No. 10 and No. 9.

“There’s a lot of cohesion, especially in the No.10 position. If you think about Phil playing there, you think about Jude, you think about Morgan Rodgers, who’s been fantastic for us in that position. You’ve got Cole Palmer, you’ve got Morgan Gibbs-White, so there’s a lot of players and there’s a chance we won’t take them all.

“Not because we don’t like (them), not because they don’t deserve it individually, but we will always do what’s best for the team.

“We’ll always do what’s best to win, we’ll always do what’s best for balance and we’ll try to maintain clarity, even if that means we have to make tough decisions.

“We take tough decisions in any camp and that won’t change when we go into a tournament.”

Tuchel has named a strong XI for the match against Serbia, with the head coach insisting he wants to maintain their “momentum”.

“The fact that we’ve already qualified means we shouldn’t be left behind when it comes to putting in a strong performance,” Tuchel said in his pre-match program notes for the Serbia match.

“One of our strengths at the moment is the intensity in our game and our desire to push our ability and effort.

“We have two qualifying matches left and we want to win them both. We want to continue our run and build our momentum.”
