Thomas Tuchel has made his choice between Morgan Rodgers and Jude Bellingham for England’s clash with Serbia, after Thomas Tuchel revealed on Wednesday that the pair would not play together in the current formation.
Bellingham Having not played for England this season after being left out of Tuchel’s squad in September with a shoulder injury, the Three Lions boss again insisted in October that he lacked pace in the match.

England qualified for the 2026 World Cup in October with a 5-0 win over Latvia, but Tuchel insisted during his pre-match press conference that he would not test with his squad for games against Serbia and Albania.
Rodgers has started England’s last three games in the coveted No.10 position, assisting in the 5-0 win in Serbia and scoring in the friendly against Wales.
Phil Foden and Aberchie are also set for attacking midfield spots at the World Cup, while Cole Palmer is also expected to challenge for that role when he returns from injury.
But after Tuchel said before Thursday’s clash with Serbia that either Bellingham or Rodgers would start against Serbia, Athletic claim That it is the Aston Villa star who is set to retain his place in the starting line-up.

On Wednesday, Tuchel said: “Rather than just looking for a position to put the best players on the field, it’s better to put everyone in their best position and compete. At the moment the competition is between the two of them.
He added: “They are friends so it can be a friendly competition. They don’t have to be enemies. They don’t have to hate each other. They are respectful. They are friends with each other and they are fighting for the same position now.
“Can they play together? Yes, but in a different structure and now is not the moment to change our structure.”
