Tottenham look set to be without the services of three defenders for their Champions League game with Monaco, but the club have made an appointment which Johan Lange says they are “delighted” with.
Spurs lined up against Aston Villa with Kevin Danso, Mikey van de Ven, Pedro Porro and DJ Spence at the back. The villains dealt Tottenham It was only their second Premier League loss of the season, scoring twice in the process.
It was the third time this season the north London outfit had conceded more than once in a game.
There may be concern, then, that three defenders look as if they will miss out on action when Tottenham take on Monaco in the Champions League on Wednesday.
It was noted that Cristian Romero, Destiny Adogui and Ben Davies did not take part in training ahead of the European clash.
All of them were absent from the side that lost to Villa at the weekend.
Romero pulled up in the warm-up for the game, while Adogi is believed to have a minor muscle problem. Although neither injury is serious, neither man is out of training.

Thomas Frank was unsure if Romero would be available to face Monaco when asked.
He said: “I don’t know. He could, he couldn’t. I just don’t know. Right now, if I’m honest, I was a focus because I went into the changing room and then I spoke to the players and then I prepared Anthony a little bit for those questions. And then I worry about the players tomorrow.”
Meanwhile, Tottenham have made a new appointment, with Dan Levendon joining from City Football Group as the club’s new performance director.
Sporting director Lange said: “We are delighted that Dean will be joining us as Performance Director.
They said he was a standout candidate and brings a wealth of experience across a wide range of team and individual sports, working with elite athletes in high-performance environments.
“Dean also has a strong academic background and his expertise will be of great benefit to us as we drive this area of the club with innovative thinking. We look forward to Dean’s start.”
