The internal squad’s reaction reveals three main reasons for the placement among the ‘disturbing’ ones

Nottingham Forest have confirmed the appointment of Sean Dyche on a contract until 2027 and revealed three reasons behind the decision.

Forest have been on the lookout for a new permanent manager since deciding to part ways with former boss Ange Post Koglo on Saturday.

Postcoglou was appointed to replace Nuno Espirito Santo, who was acrimoniously sacked following a fallout with sporting director EDU and owner Evangelos Marinacs.

This bold decision quickly backfired as Post-Cologne struggled to implement his preferred style of play, which is quite different from Nuno’s.

After failing to win any of their eight games in all competitions, Post-Coglo was sacked and it was confirmed on Tuesday morning that Dyche had been appointed as his successor.

The Dutchman has been out of action since leaving Everton midway through last season, with Forest replacing Roberto Mancini and Fulham’s Marco Silva.

In a statement from the club, Forest confirmed that the Dutchman has penned a contract until 2027 and that there were three main factors behind the decision to appoint him.

The statement said: ‘A respected and experienced Premier League manager, Dyche brings the perfect combination of character, tactical ability and proven track record to guide the club through its next chapter.’

Dyche faces a huge task at Forest as they currently sit in the Premier League relegation zone, with former chief scout Mick Brown claiming the squad will feel “confused and worried” about the situation.

“There’s been a lot of turmoil at Nottingham Forest,” Brown told Football Insider.

“The owner makes all these decisions, and he’ll say it’s his money at the club so he can do what he wants, but clearly they’re not doing it the way they’re doing it.

“It’s not just a problem on the pitch, constant changes behind the scenes won’t help anyone.

“Think about it from the players’ point of view, they were flying under Nuno, everyone knew their role and every time they went out they were confident.

“Suddenly, out of the blue, he’s gone and now they have to adapt to the way they play post-Coglo, which is completely different.

“After a few weeks, while those changes are still being made and people are still adjusting, now that’s gone too and the players are left on a limb again.

“Now it’s up to Dyche to go out there and convince the players, who are no doubt confused and upset by the situation, that the way he’s doing things is the right way.

“I think the Dutchman is the right man, he’s done it before, but speaking from the players’ point of view, it’s just adding to the problems that are already there.”
