Bet of the day

Greenock Morton and Partick Tees for painting – 11/5

Partick Thistle closed the gap on the top three in the Championship as they won the Glasgow derby at Queen’s Park on Saturday 2-1 thanks to a brace from veteran Brian Graham.

The 37-year-old has now scored six goals in his last six games and could be a key threat when they meet Morton on New Year’s Eve.

The Jags are fourth in the table but could go level with Ayr in third if they win here.

Chris Dolan’s side have made good use of their home form – they are unbeaten in 10 games at Firhill – but are less reliable on the road with four defeats in eight at the moment.

A trip to face third-from-bottom Greenock Morton may be a big chance of victory, but Dougie Emery’s home side are on a six-game unbeaten run in their league.

They are draw specialists, with eight league records already, and another stalemate at Cappielow could be on the way.

special day

Melbourne City to win and both teams not to score – 29/10

The Australian A-League kicks off earlier in the day UK time as Melbourne City travel to face the Central Coast Mariners at the Industree Group Stadium in Gosford.

Mark Jackson’s Central Coast side have scored just 7 goals in 9 games.

Melbourne City are currently just inside the top six, but can move up to third with a win here. Only top-of-the-table Auckland FC and third-placed Melbourne Victory have conceded fewer goals than Aurelio Vidmar’s side, and they can climb the table with a win to nil.

Long shot of the day

Solihull beat Tamworth 2-1 – 13/2

Solihull Moors occupy the final National League play-off spot in seventh place and are keen to end the year by jumping a place.

They can do so with a home win against Tamworth, which will take them above Rochdale.

With 30 points from 23 games which puts them on 15 games, Tamworth look set to move towards the bottom of the mid-table.the seventhseven points from the relegation zone and eight points behind the playoff spots.

They have lost just one of their last seven matches in all competitions and will not go away easily. They were victorious in their previous visit to Armco Arena in 2016.

After a flurry of four defeats in the league and FA Cup, Solihull have steadied the ship with three wins and a draw from four league defeats since December 10.

They have kept just one clean sheet in that period and with Tamworth scoring in six of their last seven matches in all competitions, they will have to settle for a narrow defeat again.
