Wycombe’s promotion hopes suffered a blow when the Cheerboys were beaten 1-0 by Huddersfield on Tuesday night, but now a bewildered Matt Bloomfield must turn his attention to the FA Cup tie with Portsmouth just three days later.
Wycombe played very well against Huddersfield, but the Cheerboys have lost some key players to injury and they have weakened at both ends of the pitch.
Defenders Jasper Pettenden and Ryan Tafazoli are on the sidelines, while centre-back Caleb Taylor has been recalled by parent club West Brom. Forward Sam Vokes and creative force Kieran Sadlier are out injured and it’s a void Wycombe may struggle to fill.
Portsmouth played very well despite losing 1-0 to Sunderland in the previous game, and before that they looked good in a 4-0 win over Swansea.

West Ham have appointed Graham Potter as Julen Lopetegui’s replacement ahead of Friday night’s FA Cup clash with Aston Villa.
West Ham were obviously hoping for more than what was on offer this season, but the Irons have beaten Palace, Bournemouth, Manchester United and Newcastle this season and they are capable at their peak.
It’s also worth noting that Villa may be eyeing other prizes on Friday night.
This FA Cup third round tie marks the start of four games in 10 days for Villa and it would not be a surprise if Unai Emery is looking to rotate his starting line-up.

Hamilton draw no bet against Partick @ 13/10
Hamilton host Partick in the Scottish Championship on Friday night and Accies look capable of avoiding defeat.
John Rankin’s men are starting to settle into life in second place after last season’s promotion, and Hamilton have lost just three of their last ten games at New Douglas Park.
Accies have won 5 of their last 9 matches and look set to have a strong second half.
Patrick will be eyeing promotion to the Scottish Premiership this season, but Thistle have won just three of their nine away league games and Chris Dolan’s men were beaten 4-1 by Dunfermline last time out.
