Slot is ‘bitter’ while star who sold is in ‘form of his life’ and Liverpool boss ‘must be questioned’

Former Premier League striker Gabby Agbonlahor has described Arne Slott as “bitter” and feels the Liverpool boss “must be questioned” for a pair of transfer blunders, with a star sold “in the form of his life”.

The Reds started this season in great form but have since fallen back. After five Premier League wins to start the campaign, Liverpool Has lost each of his last three.

It started with losses to Crystal Palace, then Chelsea and most recently Manchester United – sandwiched between a Champions League defeat to Galatasaray.

A loss to the Red Devils moves Liverpool to within two points of their rivals in the Premier League, and accordingly AgbonlahorSlott’s reaction to the game was “bitter”.

Indeed, the Reds manager said: “If you play United, with a lot of quality players they have (and) some new ones brought in this summer – and if they come to us low in the block, play a lot of long balls, then the last thing you want is going 1-0 down.”

Agbonlahor replied: “(Bruno) Fernandes was also coming to the ball. And what do you expect any of them to do when you go to Anfield? They’re not going to be open and try and play dangerous balls. Very awkward from the slot.

“(Slat’s criticism) is deserved, I mean four losses in a row. (Luis) Diaz is in the form of his life at Bayern Munich, by the way, he was incredible against Dortmund.

“Then you look at the decision to let him go, and then you’re spending $115 million on Wirtz, it’s not working. He has to be questioned. And he has to be judged. The money he’s spent, and it’s not 100% working.”

Liverpool new boy Wertz has notched an assist in 11 games for the club since his high-priced move, and that was in his first game, meaning he has now gone 10 in a row.

Diaz, who made way to sign the German, now has five goals and four assists in just seven Bundesliga games for his new side Bayern.

His decision to leave and Wirtz to join at this point seems like a very poor one, but there is still a lot of hope that the German playmaker will turn out well and justify his price tag.
