Postecoglou hit back after accusing the Spurs star of taking a ‘p*ss’ with an ‘unacceptable’ decision.



Ange Postecoglou has hit back at Tottenham Hotspur midfielder James Maddison after a supporter criticized him for attending the World Darts Championship.

Postecoglou is one of the favorites to be sacked as the next Premier League manager. As he has come under fire. TottenhamA controversial start to the 2024/25 campaign.

Spurs are one of the worst sides in the Premier League in terms of form. As they are eleventh in the table after 19 matches.

The north London outfit have won just two of their last ten matches in all competitions. Last time out, they conceded a late goal as they were held to a 2-2 home draw by relegation contenders Wolves.

The 28-year-old Maddison – who has eight goals and five assists this term – has been one of Tottenham’s better performers this term, but has gone missing in some matches.

Against Wolves, Maddison was not at full fitness as he was limited to a brief 26-minute role off the bench.

Despite this, Maddison and Spurs team-mate Brennan Johnson attended the World Darts Championship at Alexandra Palace just hours after the draw with Wolves.

This did not sit well with certain supporters. Commenting on Madison’s Instagram post, one fan wrote: “You taking the p*ss? What form are we in and you go to darts? Unacceptable.”

To which, Madison replied: “Shut up you Wally (with a smiley face emoji).”

Unsurprisingly, Postecoglou sided with Maddison as he had “no problem” with Maddison’s decision to participate in darts.

“I don’t have a problem with the players’ lives. It’s very different to try and play the game of football. I don’t see a problem with that and I don’t think it hurt him,” ‘ said Postecoglou.

“He wasn’t 100% and it was a game where we needed someone to be 100%. He was still good enough to play. If he was bed ridden, didn’t come into the game and still went to darts. There might be a problem there. But I didn’t have a problem with it.”

Spurs were always likely to be active this month and a report from him Fabrizio Romano claims he has ‘agreed’ to sign Slavia Prague goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky for around £10m.

Romano said: “Tottenham are on the verge of signing Antonin Kinski from Slavia Prague, he is in London today for a medical – as

“There was a verbal agreement between all parties, including the player’s side, that Kinski should undergo a medical after today’s game.”

He added: “Tottenham will spend more than £10m on Antonin Kinski as the new goalkeeper, with a long-term deal also agreed.
