Newcastle ‘interested’ in Premier League wonderkid but Liverpool could be ‘front of queue’ in transfer race

Newcastle United are ‘interested’ in signing Southampton youngster Tyler Dibling and the Manchester City attacker is also on their radar, according to a report.

Dribbling in a fearsome Saints side has been fantastic this term, scoring twice, registering 13 key passes, 14 passes into the penalty area, 37 progressive passes and winning two penalties in the Premier League.

He has been a real bright spark in an otherwise miserable season with Southampton rock bottom of the Premier League table with six points in 19 games.

The 18-year-old left the south coast for Chelsea in July 2022 but only stayed in London for a few months after failing to settle.

The Blues would be remiss given the dribbling potential and current talent and it could also mean the youngster would prefer to stay at Southampton.

F365 says: Tyler Dribbling and semi-automatic offsides are two godsends for the Premier League.

A January transfer is unlikely to boost Southampton’s survival hopes but there will be plenty of interest in the summer window.

Reported by interest in Dibling gave The Daily Mailwith the Newcastle Aspiring and Manchester City’s James Makati are also being looked at, while Miguel Almiron is available for transfer.

The 18-year-old winger is reported to have come ‘close’ to joining the Magpies before opting for Chelsea in 2022 and after impressing with a hat-trick at St James’ Park for Southampton under the club during their visit to Tyneside. Met the staff of ‘. -23s when only 16 years old.

The report adds that Newcastle ‘retain strong interest’ and new sporting director Paul Mitchell is ‘being kept informed of his situation’ with ‘links to Southampton’.

Newcastle rate doubling ‘extremely’ and are expected to be ‘in a strong position’ in the summer transfer window, with a January swoop all but ruled out.

Interested in Liverpoolwho will likely be ‘at the front of the queue’ if their interest is piqued.

Saints are struggling to reach an agreement on a new contract with Debling, whose current terms are due to expire in 18 months.

As well as being interested in Dibling, Newcastle are ‘monitoring McAtee’s situation at Man City’.

Indeed, McAtee ‘has fans within St James’ as club bosses are impressed with his ability to play on the wing and in midfield.

At 22, the English playmaker is the type of player Eddie Howe wants to bring to the club.

City have reportedly given McAtee a £25m price tag and ‘a host of clubs from home and abroad interested in signing him this month’.

Newcastle are currently focused on an exit and are unlikely to make a bid for a new forward before one is sold.

It could be Miguel Almiron, who is attracting serious interest from MLS side Charlotte FC, currently managed by former Aston Villa boss Dan Smith.

The report adds that there is ‘no guarantee’ the Paraguayan will agree to leave the club in January after Newcastle received an offer in the region of £5m from the Brazilian top-flight side.

Almiron’s preference is to move to MLS, though, having played in the United States with Atlanta United before joining the Geordies.

Despite only making one Premier League start in 2024/25, Almiron is ‘not eager to leave’ and ‘his and his agent’s financial expectations’ are also proving to be a ‘stumbling block’.

He would also be open to joining another club in Europe and attracted interest in the summer from Leicester City, who are ‘re-examining the situation’.

Sean Longstaff is another player who is ‘available for transfer’ as Newcastle look desperately to raise funds for an upcoming transfer.

Meanwhile, the representatives of goalkeeper Martin Dubravka – who is supporting the injured Nick Pope – are believed to have agreed personal terms with Saudi club Al-Shabaab.
