Man Utd are the “worst pound for pound team in the country” after Monday night’s 2-0 defeat to Newcastle, according to Gary Neville.
The Red Devils were well beaten on Monday night as goals from Alexander Isak and Joelinton gave the Magpies all three points on a comfortable night from Eddie Howe.
Defeated by Newcastle. Man Utd I stand at 14th position Premier League table But Ipswich Town’s win against Chelsea dragged the Red Devils to within seven points of the relegation zone.
And Neville described the performance against Newcastle as a “mauling” by the Geordies with Ruben Amorim hammering them.
As the first half progressed, Neville said on commentary: “Newcastle are hammering Manchester United. It’s bullshit.”
On Munchley’s team selection, the Man Utd legend added: “When you see Manchester United starting XI, you have to think it’s going to be very difficult for this team to play well.
“The two wing-backs aren’t very good in the attacking part of the pitch. The two central midfielders can’t run. The back three don’t have the legs. (Joshua) Zerkezi has no balance (Rasmus) Hojlund.
“You really have Emad (Diallo) who you think can do something.”
On Newcastle’s lead, Neville continued: “Newcastle are having the time of their lives there. They should be three or four.
“They’ve been absolutely awful. You’re looking at the worst pound-for-pound team in the country.
“(Diego) Dalot is very prepared and he gets up there but the ability he has as a full-back is limited.
“I’m looking at (Ruben) Amorim and he must be thinking, ‘What am I looking at?’
“There are only three of them who can say that they are right under Amorim: Dalut, (Nasir) Mizrawi and Imad.”

On the Red Devils’ second-half performance, Neville said: “I’m surprised there was no change at half-time. I thought there would be.
“The changes Manchester United have made from game to game and from game to game in their last five have been incredible.
“It’s been a struggle for Casemiro and it’s been a struggle for Martinez. Since the introduction of (Kobe) Meno, it’s been better for Manchester United.
“The first half hour was embarrassing, as bad as you’ll see.”
As for where Man United go from here, Neville added: “Exciting times for Manchester United and Amorim. He knew it was a big job but I think it’s bigger than he ever expected. Didn’t even imagine.
