Liverpool fans have criticized the ‘egoist’ Mohamed Salah, after he decided to shoot instead of giving an assist to Florian Wirtz in the goal against Eintracht Frankfurt on Wednesday.
Salah was discarded by Arne Slot for the duel against the German team, and only came on in the 74th minute when the Reds won 5-1.
Tras ir perdiendo, el Liverpool scored three goals in nine minutes of the first time thanks to Hugo Ekitike, Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konaté.
Cody Gakpo and Dominik Szoboszlai participated in the game that allowed Slot’s team to recover from the defeat suffered last Sunday at Anfield against Manchester United, and put an end to a streak of four consecutive defeats.
Salah had been retired when Liverpool were looking for a tie against United, and he was not the starter in the Champions League contest in Frankfurt.
The Egyptian entered in the 74th minute by Ekitike and when the clock approached 90 minutes, he had the opportunity to assist Wirtz and score his first goal with the Reds.

But the Egyptian star ignored his companion, who has had difficulties since he signed for 116 million pounds from Bayer Leverkusen in summer.
In this place, Salah decided to throw himself at the goal, much to the dismay of Liverpool fans and social networks.
One of them wrote: ‘That would have been Wirtz’s first goal if Salah hadn’t been so selfish. It’s an incredibly bad choice, especially since Wirtz needs a goal.
‘Hizo una cosa similar against el United, where Wirtz and Isak had easy passes, but he wanted a goal and shot.’
Another said: ‘Salah needs to stop this selfish nonsense of his that is going on. He could have easily provided two assists tonight if he hadn’t shot from places where it was better to pass. It’s not like debbie sir.’
A third claimed that they were ‘tired of Salah’s selfish behavior’.
‘He clearly could have left it to Wirtz,’ added the user.
Others asked that Salah stay out of the starting lineup for the trip from Liverpool to Brentford on Saturday.
‘Salah should be ruled out,’ said one fan. ‘Wasteful, desperate and selfish. Clear pass to Wirtz, but he overcame him with greed.’
Salah enjoyed an incredible season in 2024-25, producing performances of 34 goals and 23 assists in 52 games in all competitions.

The 33-year-old player was also named PFA Player of the Year after playing a decisive role in winning the Premier League title.
But he has only scored three goals and three assists in 12 games so far this season.
It may not be enough to be called up by Slot, who will attempt to recover from three consecutive losses in the Premier League against Brentford.
