Manchester City FFP: ‘All hell’ set to ‘break loose’ as experts reveal when ‘decision’ will go down

According to experts, Man City is likely to hear a decision in the FFP case in mid-November.

An independent commission hearing to investigate 115 allegations made by the Premier League against Man City began in September 2024 and ended in December 2024.

The Premier League launched an investigation Man City Back in 2018 and after numerous legal delays, charges were finally laid in February 2023 and the club was referred to an independent commission.

The charges brought against the Citizens relate to the requirement to accurately report financial information, including the value of sponsorship deals, presenting manager and player details and on a club’s obligation as a member of the Premier League to comply with UEFA’s financial regulations and with the league’s own Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR).

He has also been accused of failing to cooperate with the league’s investigation. In total, the charges relate to every season between 2009–10 and 2022–23.

Manchester City issued a statement strongly denying the allegations on the day the charges were brought, saying they welcomed the opportunity for an independent commission to “consider the comprehensive body of evidence that exists in support of our position.”

The club added: “Thus, we look forward to putting the matter to rest once and for all.”

Pep Guardiola revealed in February that he expected to learn the decision in March, but that forecast is more than six months out.

i paper It has now been revealed that ‘experts are set for a decision to fall in mid-November – possibly in a week that coincides with the next international break’.

A source said I paper: “Everyone just wants a decision and some certainty about what comes next.”

He added: “It’s been very quiet and because it’s been going on for so long it’s almost been forgotten about but when it lands all hell can break loose.”

Football finance expert Stefan Borsen has previously said: “There’s no real excuse for further delay. Even if the panel were busy with other matters, and they were, I think it would be very unusual indeed that there’s no timetable set with them and no arrangements made in terms of paying for time with them to come up with a decision on a date.”

“I think on any basis 10 months is enough to produce a very, very detailed 400 or 500 page decision on this matter, and I think it’s close.”
