Man Utd star ‘would be’ at Old Trafford if Ruben Amorim was Sir Alex Ferguson

Ruben Amorim has been told that Manchester United star Joshua Zerkezi would be “done” at Old Trafford if Sir Alex Ferguson was still in charge of the club.

United suffered a fifth defeat in their last six Premier League games as Newcastle picked them apart inside the opening half hour of their 2-0 victory over the Red Devils on Monday.

Amorim opted to start Casemiro and Christian Eriksen in midfield. A surprising move deserves criticism. After 33 minutes of the evening with the introduction of Kobe Mino against Bruno Guimaraes, Joelinton and Sandro Tonali.

Zarkazi was the one who was dropped in favor of Menu and was. At Old Trafford the disgraceful so-called fans jeered..

The Netherlands international was understandably frustrated by his early substitution and initially walked down the tunnel and back into the changing room before returning to the United bench for the rest of the game.

Former Man Utd goalkeeper Ben Foster, who spent five years under Ferguson, says the legendary boss will not tolerate it.

“When he (Zarquez) went down the tunnel… if Alex Ferguson had been the manager he would have been the player,” Foster said on his YouTube channel.

“Whoever it is, if you walk off that pitch after 30 minutes when you’re taken off, take a coat and go straight to the dressing room. You’re done. I promise you, You’re done. It just doesn’t work that way.

“And I guarantee you, when he came back into the changing room, somebody would have said to him, ‘You’ve got to go back out. That’s not a good look… the camera just saw you walking down the line, The fans are making noise.’

“It’s a terrible situation. I really feel for him. The atmosphere at Old Trafford at the time was terrible. United were pumped.

“They were on the back foot and it looked like he was the scapegoat. He was just one of 11 problems on the pitch.

Zerkezi has impressed since his £36.5m move from Atalanta last summer, scoring just three goals in 19 Premier League appearances.

Speaking after the Dutch forward was sent off against Newcastle, Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand said he was ‘really worried’ for the 23-year-old.

“I feel for him. I’m really, really worried for him as a former professional footballer,” said the former England defender.

“It’s hard to drag after 30 minutes and then there was the reaction in the stadium, some boos and stuff like that. It’s hard, man.

“My heart goes out to him and I hope he recovers and I hope he gets a rebuild from within, from the players and the manager.

“The manager said, ‘I’m going to go and talk to him because it was a tactical decision’, but what I will say is that it’s not the first time we’ve seen it happen.

“We’ve seen better players come back from it, we’ve seen some bigger and better players get dragged into the game at the moment and it’s also about being flexible to come back.

“It’s a difficult situation, I know, but it needs people like team captain Bruno, who needs to set the right example in terms of discipline but also in terms of reacting to certain situations.

“We need people like him (Fernandes) to go around Zarqasy and make sure, ‘You know, this is not the end for you, there is a future here’.”

“One thing I will say is that we are not seeing the best of any of our players right now and we have been saying that for a long time anyway.

“But I think the manager needs to go into pre-season and really hammer home his ideas and then we as managers can make a real decision about it.”
