It’s too early to judge whether the rebuild has been successful, as they’re still at the beginning of a long process, but it’s clear they’re currently missing a couple of elite players.
Such is an elite player Hollandthe 25-year-old has taken his game to an obscene new level this season, scoring 15 goals in 12 games and eleven in nine Premier League matches.
Holland’s incredible goal-scoring is nothing new, but he now has a lot to offer Man City as he has become a huge asset from set pieces in the defensive half and has also improved his hold-up play.
That means Holland, not Guardiola, is the most important person in the one-man team at Man City and Carragher has argued that he can lead his side to the title this season.
Carragher claimed, “Liverpool came into the season worried about being Liverpool’s biggest obstacle to ending their 21-year title wait. Now their biggest fear may be Holland’s biggest fear.”

“Whereas Arsenal have the best squad among the contenders and Liverpool have well-documented problems to fix, Manchester City have the most influential players and dynamic attackers.
“The Norwegian is the main reason why Pep Guardiola’s side have a huge chance of reclaiming their crown. Without him, City’s most realistic target would be a top-four finish.”
Holland is a special talent, but he can only do so much and at some stage, he will need some help from his Man City teammates.
Currently, Man City’s other attacking players are not pulling their weight, with Phil Foden, Ryan Cherky, Tjani Regenders and Mathis Nunes level joint-third top scorers in the Premier League with one goal apiece.
Shamefully, Man City’s second top scorer in the league is Burnley centre-back Maxime Esteve after he scored two own goals in last month’s 5-1 win at the Etihad.
Simply put, it’s not good enough if Man City want to be anything more than a challenger for Champions League qualification this season, as their overachievement over Holland may not pose a serious challenge to Arsenal.
