Manchester City have signed defender Rebecca Knaak from FC Rosengard.
Knaak is City’s first signing of the January transfer window, joining on a one-and-a-half-year deal from the Swedish champions.
The 28-year-old played a key role in their title triumph in 2024 and claimed the league’s Defender of the Year award as Rosengard lost just one league game, conceding nine goals across the campaign.
She also netted 12 goals in the Damallsvenskan, finishing joint sixth-highest scorer and just four off the top scorer.
“It feels exciting to be here. I think the WSL is the best league in the world at the moment,” Knaak told Manchester City’s media channels.
“When I heard about the interest, I didn’t have to think about it because it was such a big opportunity, so big that I wanted to take it.

“It was useful for me that I already know Therese (Sjogran, Director of Women’s Football). I trust her and her abilities a lot, so it gives me a good feeling. The club has the highest ambitions and goals, and this also matches my ability.” their own ambitions.
“I’m very proud, and I feel honored to be part of this great club. I can’t wait to get started.”
The signing of Knaak has strengthened Gareth Taylor’s side, which is currently missing key players through injury, including captain Alex Greenwood, who underwent surgery last month.
City are currently second in the Women’s Premier League, six points behind leaders Chelsea.
