Liverpool: Rio Ferdinand claims Reds’ summer signing is regretting his transfer decision

Rio Ferdinand has claimed Liverpool may regret his decision to move to the club before signing him in the summer, suggesting skepticism will dominate his thoughts.

The Reds splashed out around £450m in the summer, breaking the British transfer record twice. First time it was on Florian Wurtz And the second for Alexander Isak.

Between them, they have three goal contributions in 18 appearances.

Wertz has started for the majority of the season, but has not been directly involved since the Community Shield in August, having been left out for the last two Premier League games – both losses.

Premier League legend Ferdinand feels the transfer regrets he will join the German.

He said Rio Ferdinand gifts: “It’s a big decision – you’re a 100m player. I was a record signing twice in my career, and if at any point in the first two or three months, if a manager had dropped me for a game of that importance and importance, I would have had a lot of doubts.

“Doubts will be reduced, it will be impossible not to start thinking ‘Did I make the right decision?’

“I was with a player, I can’t mention his name, he was a huge signing for a team, and he said he started slowly in one of his teams that he signed for, and he was going: ‘Oh my God, did I make the right decision?’

“He had question marks in his own head and this guy has come out as a confident player.

“And there’s no doubt in my mind right now that when Wertz didn’t see his name on that team sheet he was going home that night in his bed, in the heat, saying: ‘Is this the right decision.’

“I’m not saying it’s a bad decision, but if I were a gambling man, I’d bet a lot of money that he had a thought that went along those lines.”

Ferdinand suggests no such concerns about Isaac, who he believes requires patience. Liverpool fan

“Right now Isak is in transition with a new team, new culture, a new changing room,” he said.

“New responsibilities, new pressures, and he hasn’t hit the ground running like a lot of us. I think you have to keep in mind, it’s a very different setup, (a) very different team.

“He’s gone from a team that played with flying wingers who were just taking the ball into the box, coming down the flanks, breaking the ball across the box to playing against teams with a high line and running on things.

“It’s such a different setup and it’s a look at what he’s used to. Again, when you’re recruiting players, are you accounting for what’s going to happen and (what) differences are going to be here and can that player adapt?

“Now, listen, we’re all sitting there it’s a certainty that he’s going to fly. He’s going to do his thing at Liverpool and I think he will in time but now there’s an adjustment period so people adjust quickly before he really starts on his back.”
