Liverpool pushed for Salah ‘difficult decision’, new deal to be announced ‘in the next few days’

Liverpool could announce a new deal for Mohamed Salah “in the next few days”, according to a former Premier League chief executive.

Wrong and Liverpool Teammates Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk are out of contract at the end of the season.

It’s notable that the Reds find themselves in this situation but it looks like Van Dijk and Salah will pen extensions, while Alexander-Arnold is considering a move to European champions Real Madrid.

The Premier League leaders recently rejected a £15million bid from Los Blancos. For the England right-back with a January transfer out of the equation.

All three players can now negotiate pre-contracts with clubs abroad.

Saudi Arabia’s Al-Ithad reportedly bid more than £100m for Salah in the 2023 summer transfer window. But there are no reports linking them or any other Middle Eastern club with the Egyptian superstar.

A contract extension seems inevitable after Salah gave the club a kick-start at the back with his quotes following the win over Southampton in November. The 32-year-old claimed he was “more in” with no offers on the table..

“You know I’ve been at the club for many years. There’s no club like that. But in the end it’s not in my hands. As I said before, it’s December and I still don’t have anything to say about my future. Haven’t got it,” Salah added outside St Mary’s.

“I love the fans. The fans love me. In the end it’s not in my hands or the fans. Let’s wait and see. Of course (no offer is disappointing), yes.”

Vines says Salah’s impressive form this season has forced Liverpool’s bosses to agree to his demands for a new three-year deal. Should do.

“Every time he scores it costs Fenway Sports (LFC owners),” Vines said Football Insider’s Inside Track The podcast.

“I think Mo is definitely showing signs that he’s special. There’s no doubt about it, he’s having a great season.

“The question was about his age but he’s still breaking records, he’s in fantastic form – there’s nothing to say he can’t do it again next season.

“It’s a very difficult decision, doing a three-year contract. But he’s forcing them to make it.

“It would be a very well-crafted contract with performance clauses, but it could be done. I’m starting to feel Mo would like to stay.

“He is handling the media very well.

“From January 1, everything becomes very real. I think we’re going to see something in the next few days.
