Liverpool have reportedly identified Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon as the player they want to replace Mohamed Salah at Anfield.
After an excellent start to the season with five wins from five Premier League matches, the Reds have struggled in recent weeks and have slipped from first to seventh in the table.
Arsenal were five points short Liverpool Four games ago but the Reds have lost all four games since then with the Gunners now seven points clear of Arne Slott.
Liverpool lost 3-2 to Brentford on Saturday With Salah scoring his second goal, Slott’s side slumped to their fifth defeat in their last six matches in all competitions.
The Egyptian’s performances, as well as many of his teammates, have been under discussion this term after Salah contributed three goals and two assists in nine Premier League starts.
After dropping to the bench for the 5-1 midweek Champions League win over Eintracht Frankfurt, The Daily Mail Reporter Lewis Steele said Salah ‘Seen in a Stroop’ And went down the tunnel full time.

Another report last week claimed Liverpool had now made a decision ‘Accepting an offer of advice’ After this season’s appearances in the summer transfer window.
It was claimed that there are whispers that he could come to the end of his time at Anfield earlier than first thought, including as early as the January window, but that Liverpool are ‘not planning to cash in on Salah’ in the winter.
The report added: ‘Sources say Salah himself has the most to say about Liverpool’s future because of his position around Anfield. The winger has enough credit in the bank with the Reds that he can effectively decide how long he stays with the club.
‘There was a lot of debate towards the end of last season about whether Salah would leave Liverpool, before he finally agreed a new deal. Next summer, if he decides he wants to take on a new challenge, Ern Slott’s side are unlikely to stand in his way and force him to stay. ‘
And now the Spanish website Transfer Insists Liverpool are keen to sign Gordon with the Reds planning moves for January or his successor next summer’s transfer window to ensure an orderly transfer.
Gordon is a high-profile option ‘to bolster the English side’s attack’, with ‘sources’ at the Spanish outlet claiming that ‘the Merseyside club’s analysts and scouts recently returned to Tyneside to watch him in action’.
The report added: ‘Liverpool face a turning point: Mohamed Salah has been the team’s healer for more than a season, but his contract and future are a source of speculation. Meanwhile, the club’s board know they cannot wait indefinitely and are already considering alternatives to strike. Anthony Gordon represents a very ambitious option to fill the spot when Salah leaves the Merseyside elite.
‘Gordon’s profile fits Liverpool’s philosophy: pace, balance, youth. However, replacing the Egyptian would be a high-risk and expensive transaction, which is why Liverpool are working ahead of schedule to gain an advantage in the bidding process. ‘

Former Newcastle United striker Alan Shearer believes Salah will sooner or later rediscover his form with Liverpool “having a bad time”.
Shearer said: “I think the biggest thing Arnslot has to handle is to get them back to winning ways in the league.
“When you’re not playing well, like he (Salah) hasn’t been and he’s not scoring goals and Liverpool aren’t getting results, a manager has every right, no matter how big, to leave you out, and if he leaves you out of the team he’s done really impressively and as a result there’s a decision to make.
“He’s going through a bad time. He’s a quality player. His time will come again, no doubt.
“Good players don’t last long. It goes through you that way, and I’m sure Salah, he’s great.”
