Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson urged his team-mates to “create their own history”.

Alisson is one of nine players who have made Liverpool’s squad this season who also played in the 2019-20 campaign.

The other assistants are Caoimhin Kelleher, Trent defenders Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Andreas Robertson, midfielders Harvey Elliott and Curtis Jones, and forward Mohamed Salah.

The changes come with the additions of Ryan Gravenberch, Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis McAllister in midfield, and Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo in attack.

Dutchman Slote, who joined Feyenoord in the summer, also made a more moderate approach to the strategy.

“I don’t think it’s too similar (to our style under Klopp),” Alisson said.

“A few players are still playing in the team, but we have a little (a) different style, more possession of the ball. The first is really direct, a lot of passing, a lot of intensity.”
