Liverpool are not dealing well with “being the victim” after winning the Premier League title last season, according to Manchester United legend Dwight Yorke.

“They’re really playing their hearts out. And if you’re not rolling up your sleeves, you become a victim, and teams are hunting you. You’ve got to make sure you’re holding them back. I don’t think Liverpool are doing that, although they’ve won a couple of games in the dying moments and they look great, which makes you think, and you think they’ll build.
“But what they’re seeing is a threat within the team. And it will be interesting to see how they react now that they’ve gone four games in a row. You really have to call on the experience of your big-name players to really perform.
“Because, as you said, we all thought that Liverpool, with their signings, that they were on the run, and of course they are starting, and I think that gives a new dimension to the whole thing. And everyone hopes that they can win it and it has shown in recent games.”

Yorke added: “I think there’s a combination: I don’t think there’s a lack of confidence for someone at the top of the game, and the best players in the league show it consistently.
“The expectation is huge. And once you leave your level, then people are going to start being realistic at your age, you’re not playing as well, and they look for excuses when it’s the same person who’s been consistent for the last six years, and unfortunately, once the results start going against you, people are going to start.
“It’s hard for me to sit here and criticize someone like Salah. The records, what he’s done for the game, and as a fellow striker, I’ve had nothing but praise.
