‘Bayer Leverkusen ace Jeremy Frimpong has been widely touted as a possible replacement for Alexander-Arnold, whose future has yet to be decided despite reports from Spain.

A report in Spain claims Girona standout Miguel Gutierrez – who has also been linked with Manchester United – is another full-back on Liverpool’s radar.

‘Liverpool are looking to make a strategic move in the January transfer market. Their target is Girona left-back Miguel Gutierrez, who they see as key to cementing their title bid this season.

With a €35 million (around £29m) release clause, the Catalan club could consider a slightly lower offer, especially if negotiations progress during the January window.

‘Liverpool’s interest follows other giants such as Real Madrid, who have a return option for just €8m, and Manchester United, who also have a promising full-back on their radar.

‘However, the Reds see a strategic advantage, as they want to secure his signature immediately rather than waiting until the summer.’
