Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran has been charged with misconduct by the Football Association following his angry reaction to being sent off by Newcastle United on Boxing Day.
The Colombian was red carded when he was adjudged to have deliberately tackled Magpies defender Fabian Schar during Villa’s 3-0 defeat at St James’ Park.
Villa appealed against the 21-year-old’s three-match ban but the FA rejected it.
Duran has now been served with a further charge of misconduct for his response to the sending off, as he kicked a water bottle after leaving the pitch and had to be restrained by a member of Villa’s backroom staff.
Duran has until Jan. 3 to respond. If he is found guilty of misconduct, he may face more expensive penalties.
Villa drew 2-2 with Brighton on Monday night as Duran served the first game of his three-match ban.
Unai Emery’s side face Leicester City in the Premier League on 4 January and West Ham in the third round of the FA Cup on 10 January in their next two games.
