And in these conferences, they are divided into four divisions consisting of four teams.
They are the American Football Conference (AFC) and the National Football Conference (NFC), each conference being divided into North, South, East and West divisions.
After 17 games, the regular season ends.
The teams with the best record in each division, as well as the three wild-card teams from each conference, qualify for the playoffs.
That means a total of 14 teams from the regular season advance to the Super Bowl road.
Each party will be removed from the campaign based on their records.
Then the playoff stage begins with the wild card round.
12 of the 14 teams that qualified for the playoffs must compete in all three rounds, but the top seed in each conference gets a bye through the conference.

Teams from the same conference then face off in a grand championship game in which the highest-ranked team wins home court advantage.
