Gunners star ‘won’t go’ as Arsenal force Everton to chase prime striker

Everton are eyeing two strikers, including one from within the Premier League, as Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has made it clear one of his forwards ‘will not be moving.’

The Gunners have seen their options down to just a few after injuries to Gabriel Jesus and Kai Huertz. If Victor Guevara is replaced by Mikel Merino when he is unavailable, Arteta will have little else to choose from.

But Jesus is now coming back into the mix, and weapon The boss has detailed how happy he is Jesus‘Back.

“I’m very happy with him. I think he’s going to add something extra to the team that we don’t have, and make sure we see him very quickly that we make an impact for the team on the pitch,” he said.

“It’s about taking steps in a different environment day by day. He’s doing everything himself. Now he’s got players around him, very competitive players around him, and let’s see how he copies that.

“But he’s full of energy, I love the reaction of all his teammates when he first joined us and it’s great to have him back.”

Arteta also suggested that there is little sense in transfer rumors regarding Jesus, who is being courted by Everton.

Sky Sports Reporter Rob Dorsett explains how, with the Arsenal man out of action, the Toffees have been forced to look elsewhere.

They have reported that Everton prefer a new striker in January, and a different profile to current options Thirnobari and Beto.

If either man is available, Dorsett is reported to have Evan Toney and Manchester United’s Joshua Zarkezi high on the Toffees’ list of targets.

He has said that Gabriel Jesus now looks ‘out of reach’ with Arta, saying he ‘will not make a move.’

Jesus has not featured for Arsenal since January, at which point he had seven goals and two assists for the season.

His return should be a positive for the Gunners, adding a different dimension to new boy Guevara, who while promising hasn’t been the most consistent, so if Arteta feels he needs something different at times, Jesus could be a great option.

For a side that is already top of the Premier League and has an excellent record in the Champions League, the return of the striker is a great sign.
