Goalkeeper Brandon Austin to make his Tottenham debut against Newcastle – nine years after joining

According to talkSPORT, goalkeeper Brandon Austin is set to make his highly-anticipated Tottenham debut against Newcastle on Saturday.

First-choice Guglielmo Vicario is sidelined with a long-term ankle injury.

Austin, 25, joined Spurs nine years ago but has never made a competitive appearance in English football.

Tottenham A number of players are missing due to injury or suspension, including first-choice defenders Destiny Udogie, Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero.

Postecoglou’s men are currently 11th and in the midst of their worst league run since 2008, failing to win any of their last three games.

Newcastle, meanwhile, have won their last four Premier League games by an aggregate score of 13-0, with striker Alexander Isak in blistering form.

Austin was on loan at Danish club Viborg in 2019 and Orlando City in the MLS in 2021.

The goalkeeper signed a new long-term contract with Tottenham in May 2024 and was expected to become second choice after Vicario.

Having played 78 games for various Tottenham youth teams, Austin is known for having the ball at his feet.

Although Forster is injured, in Vicario’s absence, questions have been raised about his fit with Spurs’ style.

Against Manchester United in a 4–3 League Cup win, he was at fault for two goals, but retained the manager’s backing.
