FA release formal statement on Duran’s allegation of “inappropriate conduct” against Newcastle

Aston Villa forward John Duran has been charged by the FA for inappropriate behaviour.

Duran was sent off in a fresh loss to Newcastle United In the Premier League.

He then kicked a water bottle when he was leaving the pitch, which prompted the accusation.

According to the FA statement: “Jhon Duran has been charged following the Premier League fixture between Newcastle United and Aston Villa on Thursday, December 26, 2024.

“It is alleged that the Aston Villa forward acted in an improper manner in the 32nd minute of the fixture, after being sent off.”

Manager Unai Emery said on the red card himself: “I don’t think he played him on purpose.

“Obviously we will appeal and hopefully it’s not three matches because that’s a very big penalty for this fight.”
