Darts fans scream at TV as Ally Pally Bee threatens to derail Round of 16

Callan Rydz has become the latest darts star to encounter Alexandra Palace’s iconic bee, but he didn’t even know it was there.

Rydes was in the opening stages of the second set of his World Darts Championship fourth-round match against Robert Owen when a bee found a home on the Newcastle native’s head.

In fact, Reeds was in the middle of his throwing motion when the bee, perched gracefully on his back, decided to take flight.

It seemed like almost everyone, but Rydes knew he had a bee on his head, as darts fans pointed it out on social media.

One user on X wrote: “Does Rydes know he has a bee on his head?”

Another fan said: “How come Rydes didn’t notice the bee on his hair was cold.”

“There’s actually a bee on Rydes’ head and he doesn’t know it,” one posted.

Maybe Rydes knew there was a bee in his barnet, but he chose to stay cool as a cucumber.

Or, as many speculated on social media, he was completely clueless.

Rydz is not the first star, and is unlikely to be the last, to face the famous Ally Pally Bee.

At the 2024 World Championships, Scott Williams had to contend with the bee as well as Australian star Damon Hetta.

But instead of destroying the bee, a man nicknamed “Shaggy” strangely tried Karate crush the insect.

The bee appeared after Williams took a 2-1 lead in sets.

Just as he began to celebrate, a bee landed on the hill, looking to cause a commotion.

However, channeling his inner Mr. Miyagi and throwing some karate chops, Williams looked to show the bug who was boss.

Williams avoided being bitten, but the same could not be said for Ross Smith.

Also at last year’s Worlds, Smith had just defeated Nils Zonneveld 3-1 in his second round match and was doing his post-match interview. when disaster struck

When asked if he could be the dark horse of the tournament, Smith replied: “Yes, honestly, without a doubt, I believe…” before he was rudely cut off.

“It’s a bee!” he said “He just finished me, he just bit me, he little!

Perhaps Pali’s United Bee was looking for another animal after Smith landed the famous 170 stall, also known as Big Fish, in front of the Zonneveld.
