England’s Sarina Wiegman is “not very positive” about injured forward Michelle Agyemeng, who was carried on a stretcher with a knee injury during the season England’s 3-0 win over Australia.
Agymeng, 19, went down with an off-the-ball injury in just 13 minutes after being brought on as a second-half substitute before being replaced by Chloe Kelly and leaving the squad.
In his post-match News Conference in Derby, Wiegman said he had not received any information on the injury but expressed concern.
“Of course it’s a terrible moment, it doesn’t look good,” he said. “We don’t know yet but I’m not positive about what I saw.”
Former Arsenal Defender Jen Beattie said Wiegman’s comments to the media were not a good sign.
“Sarina’s comments are many because the manager is always the first person to get a little nod from the medical tome.
“I don’t want to assume I’ll just hope I’m ok.”
Agymeng, currently on loan at Brighton from Arsenal, played a key role for the Lions in their Euro 2025 triumph.
Goals from the bench in the Quarter-Final against Sweden and in the semi-final against Italy forced extra time and gave England a platform.
Her exploits in Switzerland led to her selection for the KOPA Trophy, an award given to the best under-21 female footballer.
He appeared in five of Superton’s six Super Liga games this season, starting every one of the matches.
