The key to their success turned out to be captain zlatko tripic.
The winger, who turned 33 on Tuesday, 3 December, joined the club immediately following their transfer in 2018.
He previously won the Norwegian title twice with Molde in 2011 and 2012 – and from Moldovan side Sheriff Tiraspol, where he played in Europe.
“It’s a great story,” Resman said. “We were just transferred in 2017 and it was a big surprise when Zlatko was sent back.
“He’s a profile, someone we didn’t think (we could sign). We thought he came to keep going
“But he likes the idea of taking the club to something good and part of a good story.
“Viking was traditionally a big club, but it fell into the dust. He was a big part of getting Viking back to the top of the table.”
Tripic scored the winner in their 2019 cup final success in HaUgesund, but it is left to 2020 for the Turkish side in goztepe, who returned 18 months ago.
And the Croatian has reached double figures in both goals and assists in each of the past three seasons – something no Viking has done before.
