Defender Alex Greenwood has signed a contract extension with Manchester City that will see him stay at the Club until 2027, saying he has “unfinished business”.
The England International’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season.
“This is the club I love and the club I want to succeed,” the club captain Greenwood, 32, said.
“Personally, I have a lot of unfinished business to do, and I love this football club. I feel like I’m at home now and I feel it and it means it.”
Greenwood played for Liverpool, Notts County and Everton, and led Manchester United to the Women’s Championship title before joining Lyon Convions.
She joined Manchester City in 2020 and played 152 games for the club, winning the Women’s FA Cup and Continental Gires Leighs Cup in that season.
He also made the WSL professional team of the year.
However, the WSL title has eluded him, thanks to Chelsea’s dominance in recent seasons.
“He is one of the best in the world in his position and a true leader,” said Manchester City’s Director of Football, Therese SjoGaran.
“We are excited about the direction this team is taking this season and beyond and extending Alex’s contract is key to those ambitions.”
