Another new signing is on the way to Stamford Bridge as Todd Buhly continues to push his Chelsea project towards winning the Premier League.
Two and a half years in charge after a tumultuous inauguration The bluesHaving overseen an era where six different men were put in charge of the first team at various stages, Bohly appears to be having the last laugh as his club finish fourth. In the Premier Leaguewith talk of winning the title going on in the background.
The West London club has Invested heavily in a large number of young players. And it could potentially run counter to everyone’s beliefs at the start of the season.
Chelsea’s remarkable turnaround was something no one could have imagined, with consecutive 12th and sixth place finishes. The appointment of Enzo Maresca was also heavily questioned as his only managerial success was to bring Leicester City back to the first tier.
The next player to join Mariska’s squad is Argentinian youngster Aaron Anselmino. The Blues paid just £16m for the 19-year-old in the summer, with plans to allow him to remain on loan at Boca Juniors for a year, although injuries meant thin defensive options. is that Anselmino is willing to lower himself. It is unclear whether Anselmino will join up with Chelsea’s first team or be sent out on another loan move across Europe. However, injuries to Wesley Fofana and Benoit Badishaile could open the door to Chelsea debuts before the end of the season.
Chelsea have a partnership with Ligue 1 club Strasbourg where Djordje Petrovic, Andrey Santos and Caleb Wiley are already on loan, so a move to France won’t come with all the hassles that any other loan would.
Boca president Reclame believes Anselmino is ready for a switch. He said: “It has developed a lot. He is on his way to becoming a great footballer. He is going to become a national team player. He is going to compete with centre-backs.”
The youngster has had his own injury problems this season however, having missed the last five league games with a hamstring injury.
Anselmino is yet to make his debut for his national team, but a fast start to life in Europe could soon change, especially with one of Argentina’s top centre-backs, Cristian Romero, sidelined by injury.
