Chelsea ‘expected’ to use Barcelona game to try to prize star away from them

They are reportedly expected to try to use their Champions League game against Barcelona as an opportunity to discuss signing one of their stars.

The Blues have assembled a formidable squad in recent seasons. This is why they finished fourth in the Premier League last term and are currently third this season.

They have plenty of options in every position, although they have some struggles in midfield right now. Injuries to Dario Esgogo, Enzo Fernandez, Romeo Lavia and Cole Palmer at the same time could give him the spotlight in the middle.

Chelsea Barcelona are expected to discuss the signing of the midfielder soon.

They play Barca in the Champions League on November 25, the second game after the current international break.

Caught offside This highlights the game as an opportunity to discuss the Blues’ signing Mark Casadothat and who is interested in weapons.

The report ‘expects’ Chelsea to have plans to discuss Casado’s signature tonight.

It has been suggested that the Londoners could give Casado a shot at the moment and could be influenced by his availability from Barca and his future plans.

Whether they’ll be able to land it, though, is a big ask. With Gavi and Padre both out injured, Casado has played more late on, starting two of Barca’s last four La Liga games.

Although, it has been suggested that Padre will be back in the mix for the Chelsea game.

The Blues are expected to have their own boost in midfield for this game. Superstar Palmer has been out of action since September, when a hamstring injury forced him off against Manchester United.

The suggestion of late has been that he will return to the fold after the international break.

The latest was that Chelsea were working hard to get Palmer back fit to face Barca. The next update is likely to come ahead of the Premier League match with Burnley on November 14, when Enzo Mariska will surely be asked about Palmer’s fitness.
