Chelsea bomb squad member back training with first team during the international break despite Enzo Maresca insisting there was NO way back into the fold

Axel Disasi has been snapped training with Chelsea’s first team during the international break, despite being part of the club’s bomb squad.

In the summer, the center back became one of several senior players banished from first-team training while their futures were resolved. While the likes of Alfie Gilchrist and Lesley Ugochukwu found ways out of Stamford Bridge, Disasi failed to.

As a result, he has been training away from the first team alongside the likes of £325,000-a-week Raheem Sterling, with Enzo Maresca making it clear there is no way back into the fold.

During the ongoing break, however, 27-year-old Disasi, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Aston Villa, has seemingly been training with the first team at the Blues’ Cobham complex.

He was seen chasing after forward Liam Delap in a training photo, with fans quick to point out that he had seemingly returned to the fold.

In August, Disasi lifted the lid on life inside the club’s infamous bomb squad with a social media post.

He took to Instagram and posted a string of pre-season snaps, captioning the upload simply: ‘Life.’

One photo offered a rare glimpse inside the so-called bomb squad quarters – a small, bare room with wooden benches, two windows and an air-con unit bolted to the wall.

Stripped of any luxury, the space looked more non-league than Premier League, a far cry from the plush surroundings Chelsea’s stars are used to.

A month later, meanwhile, Maresca told members left behind after the summer transfer window that they would remain in exile.

He said: “They are Chelsea players because they have a contract with the club,” the Blues boss said. At this moment, they are still training apart. The idea is to continue in exactly the same way.

‘Since we started the season, I didn’t see one of them. I didn’t see Renato (Veiga), I didn’t see Axel (Disasi), I didn’t see Raheem (Sterling), because they train at a different time on a different pitch. I haven’t seen them since we started the season.’

Asked if there was any way back into the first team for them, Maresca said: ‘With us? No.’
