Cameron Carter-Vicker risk: The Celtic defender could be out until March

Carter marketers featured in 17 of Celtic’s 15 games this season, so his absence is not a big blow for Rodger’s side. But it also allows opportunities for others.

Celtic are hardly short of centre-backs – reliable, Murray, Hayato Inamura and Jahmai Simpson-Pusey All available for the manager to choose from.

Confidence has struggled with injury this season and has only played 62 minutes this term, while the inexperienced Murray has only made three appearances.

Inamura, who joined in the summer from Japanese side Albirex Niigata, made just one appearance and that was in a 3-0 win over Livingston in August.

And he only played once for the B team as Rodgers admitted the defender was “not at the level” required to start for Celtic.

There is also Simpson-Pusey, who joined on loan from Manchester City towards the end of the summer window but also played once for the B Team.

If Rodgers calls up either of the latter two it will be necessary for domestic games not only to be included in the Parkhead Club’s Squad List.

So Rodgers has a decision to make. Does he continue with scales as his main center back and add any of the four next to him? Or, does he change it up and try different pairings of the four defenders he chooses?

The manager needs to choose quickly and with a game against the league leaders in hearts on Sunday, he can’t afford to make a mistake.
