The FA Vase First-Round Cole between WytheSHawe and old boys was denied after a referee made an error in a penalty shootout.
While WytheShawe went down to 10 men after the Red Cardigan of Caterigan, who won 4-3 on penalties after the game ended with one player not taking a spot-kick.
They chose their keeper and were allowed to do it, but by the laws of the game that meant he couldn’t get the shootout.
The Cumberian side, who play in the 10th tier, one league below WytheShawe, said they were “very disappointed” at the decision to replay the game.
BBC Sport has contacted the Football Association for comment.
“This decision came about because of a mistake made by a designated football appointed and qualified referee, who failed to apply the laws of the game during the penalty., outside
“At the time, the old boys acted in full accordance with the referee’s instruction – an instruction that was not considered incorrect in itself.
“As a result of this mistake, our club is now facing unnecessary financial and logistical palaces, including the costs associated with a replay and the rescheduling of a legal one.
“These effects are important for a grassroots football club like ours, where resources are limited and every pound makes a difference.”
The replay will be held at the Old Boys’ Road Ground on Saturday, 1 November.
