Bayern Munich maintain interest in Florian Wirtz

According to Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, Bayern Munich remain interested in signing Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen at the end of the season.

The attacking midfielder shone for Leverkusen last season as Xabi Alonso’s side went the entire domestic campaign unbeaten, winning both the Bundesliga title and the DFB-Pokal. His quality has attracted interest from clubs across Europe and reports have linked him with Manchester City, Liverpool, Barcelona and Real Madrid, as well as Bayern.

Wirtz is currently under contract with Leverkusen until the summer of 2027 and the reigning German champions are in talks with his representatives over a new contract. Bayern are aware of this, but unless an agreement is reached and a new contract is signed, they remain hopeful of acquiring his services in the summer.
