Max Dowman is being considered for an England Under-21s call-up, reveals boss Lee Carsley.
The Arsenal youngster, still only 15, is excelling with England Under-19s in this international window.
But having already broken into Mikel Arteta’s first team at club level, Carsley accepted that while ‘the timing has got to be right’, the young midfielder could well be ‘accelerated’ up the age groups for the national team on the back of his rise at Arsenal.
‘He’s a player that we’re monitoring,’ Carsley said.
Sometimes that talent, we have to accelerate it so quickly because of the challenge they are getting at their clubs.
It’s important that we keep in mind how young Max is and we are fully aware of him. We get all of the feedback from the camps that he plays on and there is definitely time. He’ll definitely get his chance within the Under-21s.’

Manchester United academy star Shea Lacey is one that Carsley is looking closely at, so much so that he drafted the 18-year-old into two training sessions this week.
Lacey, who is continuing to impress Ruben Amorim and Manchester United first team staff in training, only made his debut for England Under-20s in the last international break but he is already knocking on the door.
‘He’s been in the pathway a good amount of time now and he’s a player that we rate highly,’ Carsley added.
It worked out well that we needed that position for the training we were doing and Shea was more than happy to come over and train with the Under-21s.
‘You can see he’s a good talent. I know he’s struggled with injuries in the past, which has probably held back his development, but I think it’s so important that we don’t rush these young players, we let them develop in their own time.
‘I think he trained two sessions with us and I enjoyed having him.’
While Dowman and Lacey are rising through the levels in the England pathway, Carsley has opened the door for Myles Lewis-Skelly to play a role with the Under-21s in the future.
The 19-year-old Arsenal full-back has been a relatively senior team mainstay since Thomas Tuchel took charge, only to be left out of this camp due to a lack of minutes at his club.
Myles Lewis-Skelly will be considered moving forward by Lee Carsley if seniors overlook him
‘It’s a situation that we’ll monitor,’ Carsley said.
‘With this camp at the minute we’ve got players that I’ve been monitoring week in, week out, and Myles wasn’t one of them because he was playing and training with the seniors. It’s something we assess in March.
‘We’d love to have Myles with us. I’ll communicate with Thomas (Tuchel) and we’ll definitely come up with a plan with him.’
