Arsenal could sack Mikel Arteta at the end of the season if they fail to win the Premier League title, according to reports and Wayne Rooney.
The Gunners, who beat Crystal Palace 1-0 on Sunday, closed a five-point deficit on Liverpool in recent weeks to go top of the Premier League and now have the title firmly in their hands.
Liverpool are on a four-match losing run in the Premier League, while weapon Arnslot has won his last four matches to open a seven-point lead over the defending champions.
Bournemouth are Arsenal’s biggest challengers in the Premier League at the moment, with Andoni Arraola’s side currently four points behind Arteta’s men in second place.
There has been some criticism of Arsenal for scoring most of their goals from set-pieces this season, with their critics insisting that they need to start scoring more from open play as it is not sustainable.
And Manchester United legend Rooney insists Arteta must win the Premier League title at Arsenal this season or face the sack in the summer.

Rooney said BBC Sport: “The squad is pretty good now and I think they’ve had experiences that have brought them closer, but I think they’re ready for it.
“If they don’t win it now, you’ll probably see a change of manager.”
And now the Spanish website Transfer Insists that Arsenal’s board is suspicious of Mikel Arteta’s plan after investing more than $1 billion and not having a major title since 2021. ‘
Patience is ‘wearing thin’ in the Gunners boardroom as they now look for silverware and the Premier League club will ‘assess whether to continue with the current approach or go down a new path at the end of the season’.
The report added: ‘Arsenal’s board have not announced an immediate decision, but the playing and financial indicators are worrying. Arteta must now show results, or his continued contract could be called into question. ‘

Former Manchester City defender Nedum Onoha insists Arsenal are not just about set pieces with Arteta’s side in the Premier League.
Onoha said BBC Radio 5 Live: “It’s interesting because we have some misconceptions and that’s true with Arsenal. People call them set piece FC and all that.
“But they’re up there with the teams with the most shots in the Premier League and they’ve conceded the fewest goals, they’ve conceded the fewest chances and the fewest shots.
“They are fantastic. They are sitting at the top of the league and they deserve to be there.”
Former Arsenal winger Theo Walcott added: “Arms can do a bit of everything now. There’s an element of fear in the whole team.” Former Gunners striker Theo Walcott added to BBC Sport. “People are just in awe of them and it’s great to see.
“It’s starting to become the norm now that they don’t concede goals. They’ll have a bad patch and last year it was a huge draw, but I don’t think that’s going to happen this year. There’s belief across the club now.”
