Sam Kerr has revealed her excitement ahead of her New Year’s Eve wedding to fiancée Kristie Mewis – and the Matildas captain has declared she can’t wait to get ‘blind drunk’ with close family and friends.
Kerr, 32, was asked on the Mewis Squared podcast what she is most excited about ahead of the big day, notably the food, venue or outfits – and her loutish response is sure to raise plenty of eyebrows.
‘I cannot wait until we’re all blind drunk, partying, New Year’s Eve in our suits and just having a grand old time,’ she said.
‘That will be a lifetime memory with all of our friends, all dressed up.’
It comes after the Chelsea striker recently dominated headlines for her alcohol-fueled night out with Mewis that resulted in her arrest.
In January of 2023, Kerr labeled a police officer ‘stupid and white’ after she vomited in a taxi and smashed a window following a drunken night out.
Kerr abused PC Stephen Lovell after the taxi driver took her directly to Twickenham Police station in southwest London.
The footballer claimed along with her fiancé Mewis, they were being kidnapped by the driver, who refused to let them out after she was sick in the vehicle.

She later showed PC Lovell her bank balance to suggest she could easily afford to pay for any damage to the taxi.
The star striker later faced a trial for allegedly racially abusing PC Lovell – but was found not guilty.
After an ACL injury sustained in January of 2024 when on a training camp with Chelsea in Morocco, Kerr finally returned to the pitch in September – and scored her 100th career goal for the Blues in a 3-1 victory against Aston Villa.
And in a move which shocked many football fans in Australia, Kerr was handed back the captaincy for the Matildas ahead of the recent 3-0 defeat against England in Derby.
Defender Steph Catley wore the armband during Kerr’s absence – and many supporters felt the Arsenal star should have remained the team’s skipper.
Matildas coach Joe Montemurro told reporters a ‘decision was made internally for what we believe is the best outcome for the playing group.’
I make football decisions. I’m not going to make any political decisions, and Sam is an important part of what we’re trying to do,’ he said.
‘As far as we are concerned, we just kept the status quo going forward, and we are happy with her continuing on as captain.’
Earlier this year, Sam Kerr was cleared of racially aggravated harassment against PC Stephen Lovell following an incident in January of 2023 in London

Last month, Kerr labeled herself a ‘natural born leader’ ahead of her highly anticipated return to the national team.
“Some people are just born natural leaders, and I put myself in that (category),” he said.
I have so much more to give to this team in a leadership role. I feel I’m one of the best leaders.’
Kerr made her debut for the Matildas in 2009 aged just 15 and has gone on to become Australia’s greatest ever goal-scorer.
