Roy Keane believes Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford is ahead of Newcastle winger Anthony Gordon for England ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
World Cup qualifiers The Three Lions beat Serbia 2-0 in a comfortable World Cup qualifying win on Thursday night, thanks to goals from Bukio Saka and Ibarchi Eze.
Started for Rashford England Before finally replacing Eze after impressing on loan at Barcelona this season against Serbia on Thursday.
Gordon, who has not had the best season for Newcastle, missed the victory in Serbia with a knee injury and Rashford faces a battle to start ahead of the Newcastle star at the World Cup in the summer.
But Man Utd legend Kane believes Rashford should start ahead of Gordon for England when both are fit as the Red Devils find a “threat”.
Ken said ITV: “If you’re comparing the two, Rashford and Gordon at their best, I’m going for Rashford.

“He (Rashford) can still let you down, of course, but he’s a threat and he’s a handful when he’s on top form. You don’t want to face him.”
Speaking during his half-time analysis of Rashford’s performance, the Man Utd legend added: “He’s been busy (against Serbia), he’s been lively, he’s made a couple of runs but he’s probably a bit disappointed with the end product because he’s in great form at Barcelona and doing really well.
“His movement off the ball … he looks confident. Good link-up playing on the left (with Nico O’Reilly). He’s been a threat. But at the end of it, you have to be something else.”
Emile Heskey and Wayne Rooney are both concerned about the lack of striker depth as Harry Kane played 65 minutes against Serbia.
Heskey said on the Wayne Rooney Show: “We’ve been lucky over the years we can see where the next strikers are coming.
“We’ve had a string of players who could go through that next level, me coming after (Alan) Shearer and Rooney, but where do we look now?
“We’ve always had that streak but we’re struggling to find (the next one).”

Rooney added: “We talk about how many games are playing now. We’ve got an opportunity where we don’t have to see Kane, and he doesn’t have to rest.
“Kane shouldn’t play for England again until the World Cup. We don’t need to see him, we know what he can do.”
On the lack of number nines in England and globally, Rooney said: “I think it’s purely because they don’t want to play number nine anymore with the way the game is played.
“If you look around the world there aren’t that many nines, so it’s not just England.”
He added: “Everyone wants to be Mo Salah or Lionel Messi, and playing as a forward now you don’t touch the ball as much – and you have to be ruthless like Holland and Kylian Mbappe.
“There are no number nines, not even Kane is out and nine.”
Heskey added: “The forwards had to be so involved when we were playing. You have to chase things down the channel, you have to win flick-ons.
“Now your two number eights are doing more, your wingers are a lot wider, you don’t have to get involved as much.”
