Manchester United are facing legal action after a man who worked as a former Kitman, groundsman and caretaker was accused of historic abuse.
Claims made against Billy Watts, who worked for CLUF CHARF TRACTION GOURSION in the 1980s. He died in 2009.
A civil suit was brought by a man who alleged that he was abused as a child and he accused the club of failing to protect him from care and supervision.
Manchester United were approached by the BBC and a spokesman said they would not comment.
Simpson Milar lawyers, representing the claimant who cannot be named for legal reasons, said the club has largely refused to participate in the legal process.
The strong Law said that despite the participation of the Club in the 2021 review of the 2021 review, which documented many allegations of abuse of his carer by carers who abused him in 1989.
Kate Hall, abuse law expert at Milar Simpson, said: “Our client has shown courage in coming forward over the years.”
He added: “Survivors deserve more than sympathy – they deserve meaningful engagement and accountability.”
The legal firm said the Club’s failure to cooperate with it “means the survivor has no choice but to issue formal court proceedings”.
