Former Leeds forward Patrick Bamford is in talks to sign for Sheffield United as a free agent, just seven months after leading chants branding Blades manager Chris Wilder a ‘w*****’.
Bamford, 32, waved farewell to Elland Road in the summer after seven years at the club, leaving by mutual consent after being told by Daniel Farke that he was not part of his Premier League plans.
Now, seven months after leaving the Blades’ Yorkshire rivals, Bamford is discussing a short-term contract at Bramall Lane until January.
In April, the former Chelsea and Crystal Palace striker was filmed leading Leeds fans in a derogatory chant against the Sheffield United boss, reacting to the club’s triumphant promotion to the Premier League.
Wilder reacted to the incident at the time by saying he had ‘no issue’ with Bamford, who will fear he is in for an awkward first meeting with the Blades boss.
‘I am a big boy, you give it, you take it,’ Wilder said after the footage surfaced online.

Bamford held talks with Getafe in the summer but failed to agree on a deal and has been training with Championship leaders Coventry City after being invited by his former Chelsea teammate Frank Lampard.
Sheffield United, who currently sit 22nd in the Championship after a disappointing start to the season, have lost 11 of their opening 15 league matches and are the division’s lowest scorers with just 11.
Bamford, who won one cap for England in 2021, was released by Leeds in August after scoring 56 goals in 192 league games for the club.
The Blades visit neighbors Sheffield Wednesday in their next competitive game on November 23.
