Named: The three managers Norwich have spoken to in their hunt to replace Liam Manning following a disastrous start to their Championship season

Former Sweden coach Jon Dahl Tomasson has held discussions with Norwich City over becoming their next manager.

The Canaries sacked Liam Manning last weekend after the defeat to Leicester City left them second from the bottom of the Championship.

The move comes as disgruntled fans started a petition to oust 36-year-old sporting director Ben Knapper who is leading the interview process.

Knapper is understood to have already met with Gary O’Neil who rejected a return to Wolves and has also figured in Middlesbrough’s discussions about a new boss. Former Southampton manager Will Still is another contender Knapper has spoken to.

Tomasson was sacked by Sweden last month after 20 months in charge of the national team, and subsequently replaced by Graham Potter. The 49-year-old Tomasson has also previously spent just under two years in the Championship with Blackburn.

O’Neil pulled out of the running for a surprise return to Molineux last week, having concerns about the current suitability of the club.

The Englishman, who has also managed Bournemouth, has been out of work since being sacked by Wolves last December.

The former midfielder made 55 appearances for Norwich, winning promotion to the Premier League via the play-offs in 2015.

Still was dismissed by Southampton earlier this month after just five months at St Mary’s.

However, the 33-year-old still retains a reputation as a forward-thinking, young coach following his time in France with Reims and Lens.
