Man utd Have a serious track record in the transfer market as they have made a number of poor decisions, although that has changed during this summer window.

The Red Devils spent $200 million this summer as one of the biggest spenders in Europe. Sean Lemons, Benjamin Cisco, Brian Mabiomo and Mathis Cunha, each of these signings have made a huge impact in recent matches.

“I think he should have stayed at Man United, obviously, sometimes it’s not his decision,” Ferdinand said of Rio Ferdinand presents.

“I think it was an absolute balls-up that they actually let him leave the football club.

“If the manager had come in, I think it could have been Van Gaal, whoever came in and said, ‘You can go’, you say, ‘No, it’s out of your hands, mate, it’s not for you, you don’t know the details behind it, and he’s staying with us.

Ferdinand has also stated that he thinks Welbeck needs to be “second to Harry Kane” in England’s squad for next summer’s World Cup.

“He’s second only to Harry Kane,” Ferdinand added.

If you’re talking about form now and the squad was being picked tomorrow, Danny Welbeck would have to go, wouldn’t he?

“Experience, he can do different things on the pitch for you, he can drop back if needed, we saw that at Old Trafford, he can link up short and link play as well as outside Harry Kane, he’s an all-round footballer, if he didn’t have the injuries he had earlier in his career.

“I’ll take him. If he goes off the form he’s in now, you can’t take him because he’s only going there for a month, it’s not like we’re asking him to play a whole season, you’ve got to be ready and he can play a role, be a support act for someone like Harry Kane.”
