Marvin Brown: The former Bristol City forward has died aged 42 from cancer

In the summer of 2024 he became the joint manager of Corsham town of FC, which also gave tribute to brown as a “STATNING 10 games in a row participating in a “difficult season” for the club.

“(He) would always stay after the game to chat about life and football even towards the end of his time at the club when he got sick,” they added.

“He will be deeply missed and we send our thoughts and thanks to his young family at this time.”

Having previously suffered from several serious health concerns throughout his life, including being diagnosed with colon cancer in 2022, Brown was unable to secure life insurance.

A fundraiser for his wife Alexis and two daughters raised more than £63,000 in donations.

A charity match will see a Marvin Brown XI take on a Bristol City XI at Twerton Park in Bath on 9 November to raise significant funds.

One of those involved was former Brown City Team-Mate Joe Burnell.

“I remember him as this happy, funny, bright, careful, careful, good boy,” he told BBC Radio’s Bronomy.

“(He’s) a product of the academy, and a lot of the boys that come through are always going to be fundamental guys and he’s certainly one of those.

“He was a very good, infectious, smiling character, one of life’s great people.”
