England’s defeat by Brazil Piquilted the first of four friendly matches that form a “homecoming series” to celebrate their victory at Euro 2025.
Several key players were missing from the squad through injury, including Captain Lea Williamson, forwards Leauren Hemp and Lauren James, and mids Park and Grace Clinton.
However, there is a boost for Wiegman with goalkeeper Goalnah Hampton returning after missing Saturday’s loss.
West Ham Defender Anouk Denton has also been called into the squad to provide additional cover as the players return to full fitness and handle knocks.
In Hampton, Wiegman said: “He’s good and he’s progressing very well. He’s moved all the boxes. There’s another training session.
“We all saw what he can bring. He is a good goalkeeper. The first task for any goalkeeper is to stop the ball going into the net, with the team.
“But he’s also good on his feet and that long kick he has. That’s really his super-strength.”
England have believed first in their last four games but Wiegman said his side had not yet been guilty of “starting to find themselves.
“Against Spain (in the final of the Euros) we started well and could have been 1-0. Italy (semi-final) we could have scored a goal,” he said.
“Against Sweden we didn’t start well and then against France we started well. So I don’t agree that we had a good enough start and should have been more physical.
“We’re definitely going to do everything we can to get off to a better start on Tuesday.”
England’s game against Australia is in front of a raucous crowd at Pride Park (19:00 GMT).
The attendance at the Etihad Stadium against Brazil was 37,460 after the football association said before the match that more than 43,000 tickets had been issued. For Saturday’s game, a Premier League program in the same city collapsed at kick-off time.
“I think it’s really good,” Wiegman said of Tuesday’s well-supported match.
“The fans have shown a lot of support for us here in England but also in Switzerland for the euro,” said Wieegman.
“It’s helped us and it’s one of the reasons why we’re touring the country. Now it’s selling and that’s unbelievable.
“It’s also on a Tuesday night. There’s a lot of support again. We really appreciate it and enjoy it. We try to connect with our fans all the time.”
